About me

Hi. I’m Derek. Yes, that Derek—the handsome 10-year-old Boxer with a mischievous glint in his eye and a very active sense of humour. Don’t let the number fool you; I may be a distinguished gent, but I’m still full of life and always up for a bit of fun. Older? Sure. Slowing down? Not a chance.

I’m looking for a new home with people who really get dogs like me. Experience with large or similar breeds is important—Boxers have a peculiar personality, and I come with all the classic quirks: expressive face, big feelings, and a tendency to do things my own way. If you understand that intensity and charm often come as a package deal, we’ll get along just fine.

I could live with children aged 11 and above, as long as they’ve been around dogs before and know how to respect my space. I’m a big lad with a lot of personality, after all.

When it comes to my social life, I prefer to keep things calm. Other dogs can be a bit much for me, so I’d love quiet walks where I don’t have to interact with anyone. I can be strong on the lead at times (I know where I’m going and I’m quite confident about it), so I need a confident handler who’s comfortable managing that.

Like most gentlemen of my age, I have a few aches and pains—the usual ones that come with getting older. I might also be a little hard of hearing… although somehow I can hear a food packet opening from anywhere in the house. Funny how that works.

Once I’m settled, I could be left for a couple of hours without a problem. I’m very happy snoozing the day away in a warm, comfy spot—one of my favourite pastimes.
