Goose: From Rescue to Recovery—A Journey of Hope

You might remember Goose, the adorable Golden Retriever who arrived at Jerry Green Dog Rescue at just 11 weeks old. Like most puppies Goose was a spirited boy with a big heart who loved to cuddle and play, however he sadly had been born with a very rare deformity. Goose had no bones in his paw which would greatly impact his life if left unattended.  

Goose’s paw was unusable, affecting his balance and causing him a lot of discomfort. Following thorough veterinary investigations, it was recommended by the vet that amputating his leg would be the best option for Goose’s well-being and quality of life. If the leg was not amputated, it could impact the development of his other muscles and joints which were already compensating for his poorly paw.  

The surgery and aftercare needed for Goose was costly, but essential. Thanks to you, our generous supporters, we were able to raise the funds to contribute to the cost of Goose’s operation. Without your kindness, we would not be able to help so many puppies and dogs in need, puppies just like Goose.   

Due to Goose being too young for anaesthesia the amputation needed to wait until he was approximately 5-6 months, therefore we were in search of a loving forever home for Goose to be settled in ahead of his surgery.
