Christina’s speech showcased the vital work of Jerry Green Dog Rescue, the increasing pressures facing the rescue sector, and the innovative steps we are taking to adapt. With an estimated 2.7 million animals entering UK shelters each year, over half of them dogs (RSPCA), the need for change has never been greater.
As an organisation, we are committed to evolving with this landscape, balancing both proactive and reactive approaches to rehoming. Our blended rehoming model, including our Home from Home scheme, is at the heart of our strategy for the next five years. By keeping dogs in their current homes while we find their new families (where appropriate and in a dog’s best interests), we can reduce stress, improve welfare, and support even more dogs in need.
